About Us

MyBodyScan.com originated from the recognition that many Americans with no apparent symptoms are needlessly dying from lung, colon and brain cancer due to the non-availability of reasonably priced screening tests. The sooner a diagnosis of an abnormality can be made; the sooner treatment can begin. Unfortunately, given the high price ordinarily associated with MRI and CT scanning procedures, many patients are unaware that they suffer from cancer until an advanced stage of the disease.

In this era of managed care, primary care physicians are penalized for prescribing expensive diagnostic tests for their patients. During the year 2000 there will be approximately 164,100 new cases of lung cancer in this country. About 156,900 people will die of lung cancer. Over 100,000 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. MyBodyScan.com links consumers to a network of board certified radiology facilities and laboratories that will provIDe MRI scans of the brain for $169 (usually over $1,000) and CT scans of the chest for $349 (usually $900) .

The reason we can offer these scans as a greatly reduced rate is because radiology facilities are greatly underutilized and the scans we offer take approximately seven minutes, which makes it very easy to schedule. This does not mean that the scan is of inferior quality. The MRI we offer is a screening exam comprising only T2 weighted sequences in axial reconstructions. This is very sensitive for the detection of any abnormality. In contrast, a routine diagnostic MRI (which can cost as much as $1,500) requires multiple sequences T1, T2, FLARE etc) with axial, saggital and sometimes coronal reconstructions. A routine diagnostic MRI can take between 45minutes and 1 hour of scanning time and more time for the radiologist to interpret each of the images.

Consumers can schedule their appointments on the Internet or by calling a toll free number. In addition to the scheduling service, consumers can log onto our web site, www.mybodyscan.com and find information on health issues, including diagnosis and treatment options for a vast array of diseases. We also provIDe a network of support services in the event that an indivIDual has an abnormal scan.
